“An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away”

 

"You can find a 5 pointed star in the most unusual places.  If you cut an apple exactly in half you will see! Well my friend I believe you to be one of my “stars”.  A someone who has found balance – physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally AND possess the ability to make the necessary choices to shine. 

 

It was a joy to watch you present – I felt honored to witness you in action.

 

I want to share a description of what a “Man of Steel - Man of Velvet” is – I will try to keep this simple, not an easy thing for me to do.

 

A Man of Steel – This is a man that has an unflinching character, that is, he does not betray fear or indecision; he is resolute; unwavering.  Stay with me!

 Steel, you may recall is made of many various hard, strong, durable and MALLABLE alloys.  One definition under alloy states that the mixing of these different metals lowers the purity or value because a “cheaper” metal enters the composition.  However, as is usually the case, this is a paradox.  We use steel, the combination of many “cheaper” metals, to be the structural foundation today of our grandest “High Risers”.  In order to be a “High Riser”, (of which a star is) it behooves a person to have a combination of “cheaper experiences that strengthens and gives our character a stronger structural foundation.  Thus a Man of Steel has a great variety of “alloys” that make up his “unflinching character.  Can you see where this is going?

A Man of Velvet - This is a man with a rich, smooth, soft, and dense heart and soul.  Velvet was originally made from silk.  Silk is a fine, lustrous fiber produced by certain insect larvae and spiders, especially silkworms to form its cocoon.   A man of velvet has allowed his heart and soul to be carefully protected within a cocoon until the appointed time for him to take flight.  His heart is rich, with all of the rough edges in tact, because though velvet appears smooth it is actually made up of hundreds and hundreds of densely piled silk.  The smooth surface comes from a Master Weaver who helps us labor, tirelessly to prepare for the metamorphosis.  Oftentimes a Man of Velvet has no idea what all the work was leading to.  All of the tripping over his feet to get to where he is was done with faith.  He had no idea what all the pain, misunderstanding, unmet needs, loneliness, and hot tired feet were bringing him in to.  The man of velvet only knows that he has to keep on keeping on.  He is approachable; he has depth, because his heart is made up of hundreds and hundreds of densely piled experiences that have been intricately woven into his character.  He is ready to take “flight”.  He is a “High Riser”.

 

You made me smile the other night because I caught a glimpse of “A Man of Steel – A Man of Velvet”.

 

Go cut an apple exactly in half and you will see what I saw at a work shop on time management – I’m so glad I took the time – it had great value for my heart."
